THE BIOGRAPHY OF SATAN: A historical Exposition of The Devil and His Fiery Dominions. Disclosing the oriental origin of the belief and future endless punishment; also, an explanation of the pagan origin of the scriptural terms: bottomless pit, lake of fire and brimstone, chains of darkness, casting out devils, worm that never dieth, etc. - "The Biography of Satan is ideal for Christians, Athiests, Pagans, Witches/Wiccans & Satanists alike, giving a fantastic insight into the developement and roles of the Devil in all his forms throughout history. It describes the root mythologies and evolution of Satan, Hell etc as we understand them today in simple, digestible terms. It gives an understanding of the antagonist and his origins and dispells his cloak of shadows, describing the assimilation of classical figures and concepts of malevolence and the church's demonisation of ancient deities during the middle ages. The development of the snake symbolism and origins of the concepts of eternal damnation & the fires of hell were fascinating. Well researched, easy to understand, it's a definite must-have for anyone at all with an interest in ancient and/or modern mythos."
SATAN SPEAKS SATAN SPEAKS: Full of dark humor, how-to advice, and self-proclaimed hard-won wisdom, the essays in this new collection present more of the opinions and ideas from famed satanist Anton LaVey. - "This book, as many of you know. Was written during LaVey's last days with us. It is at times very cynical. And of course has it's dose of dark humor and social satire. Roll all of this together with a further explanation of some of LaVey's lesser known interests and philosophies, and you can't go wrong!"

RAISING HELL - A CONCISE HISTORY OF THE BLACK ARTS AND THOSE WHO DARED PRACTICE THEM RAISING HELL - A CONCISE HISTORY OF THE BLACK ARTS AND THOSE WHO DARED PRACTICE THEM: It's always a pleasure to find a book of history so well written that I lose track of time while I'm reading it. Masello has collected the exploits of prominent sorcerers and alchemists, secret societies, rituals and key tools of black magic, without sinking into a subjective analysis of the morality of these occult arts. Here, in one spellbinding volume, is a history of the major occult arts as they have been practiced from ancient Babylon to the present day. Raising Hell weaves history with myths, quotes, anecdotes, and illustrations, to provide a vivid chronicle of the evolution of the occult arts. This definitive source offers a compelling look at the black arts and those who risked their lives to explore them. A must read for anyone interested in more than just the surface of the Black Arts.
A FIELD GUIDE TO DEMONS, FAIRIES, FALLEN ANGELS, AND OTHER SUBVERSIVE SPIRITS A FIELD GUIDE TO DEMONS, FAIRIES, FALLEN ANGELS, AND OTHER SUBVERSIVE SPIRITS: This is a great reference work: useful, accessible and well organised. The demons, fairies and other mythical beings featured in this book were taken from the legends and folklore of several cultures and they are grouped according to their place of residence: water, mountain, forest, desert, domicile and psyche. Each chapter includes a short description of the creature's appearance, habits and preferences; one of two stories of encounters with it; and a section on disarming and dispelling techniques. This guide includes some fascinating creatures, such as the Japanese Kappa and its surprising eating habits, the helpful and friendly Norwegian Nisse, the extremely fragile Australian Mimi, and the Chinese Madame White, who gives a whole new meaning to the expression femme fatale. Some better known beings like mermaids and werewolves are also featured. The Macks' writing style is clear and engaging, sometimes tongue-in-cheek but never disrespectful to other cultures. The detailed information on how to deal with these creatures is particularly useful; if you ever encounter any of them you'll know what to do to be able to tell the tale.
THE SATANIC RITUALS THE SATANIC RITUALS: Do NOT buy this book if you are a solitary practitioner (and plan to stay this way) or work with only one or two other people at the most. For this book is a primer for the pomp and pageantry kind of satanic rituals which require several role-assuming participants. If, however, you DO belong to a Grotto, there are a few rituals here to wet your appetite for productive group ritualizing (namely "Le Messe Noir" (Black Mass), "Das Tierdrama", "Night On Bald Mountain" (a homage to Tchort) and the satanic baptism). The other rituals did not impress me ("Die Elektrischen Vorspiele" does not explain exactly HOW the ritual "utilizes electrical and magnetic energies" and most of you will probably not want to work with Van de Graaf generators and Tesla coils...you may burn your house down if you don't know what you're doing!; also, the "Call to Cthulhu" ritual is incurably schlocky...I love old HPL, but his monsters are best kept in the realms of sci-fi). A nice feature herein is the introduction to "Night on Bald Mountain"; I learned more about Slavic mythology in these few pages than I have been able to learn in years of searching futiley through library stacks at my university. This is not my favorite of LaVey's books, but worth a look if you are a group practitioner.
URBAN VOODOO - A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO AFRO-CARIBBEAN MAGIC URBAN VOODOO - A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO AFRO-CARIBBEAN MAGIC: This book fills a long-standing need in the literature: Voodoo, Santeria, and Macumba as practiced today in cities throughout the Western world. It is not another history or sociological study, but a candid personal account by two who came to "the religion" from the outside. It includes descriptions of the phenomena triggered by Voodoo practice, divination techniques, spells and a method of self-initiation. The book's got a fresh style of writing. Never boring. Keeps you going to the end. Interesting and creative ways on how to get in touch with various loa and orishas. Brings to light various taboo subjects on how the human body is used for sacrifice or parts of it. Makes good points on how Voodoo or other practices are ridiculously mistaken for Satanic worship devices.
SANTERIA GARMENTS AND ALTARS SANTERIA GARMENTS AND ALTARS - Speaking Without a Voice: Santera is a religion that originated in Nigeria, developed in Cuba during the slave era, and came to the US with Afro-Caribbean immigrants. Here folklorists from UCLA examine the art and artists of the faith, focusing on the garments and altars, their design and creation, and the role of aesthetics in religious celebration. Highly and colorfully illustrated. If you are interested in Santeria and the garments utilized in ceremonies, this is the book for you. You will not see these garments elsewhere. The author is a very well recognized santero and the pictures are stunning. The information presented is geared to a nonpractitioner of this tradition. Forget whatever you have heard about Santeria; this is the real thing.
